Teona Strugar Mitevska a child of the artist, was born in 1974 in Skopje, northern Macedonia. As a child, she practiced acting, studied painting and graphic design, and then completed a master’s degree in film at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. She made her directorial debut in 2001 with the short film VETA, and then directed the films: How I Killed a Saint (2004), I'm from Tito's Veles (2007), The Woman Who Wiped Tears (2012), Teresa and I (2013), Nameless Day (2017) and God Exists, her name is Petrunya, which she shot in 2018, and premiered in the competition program of the Berlin Film Festival. Since its founding, her production company Sisters and Brother Mitevski has co-produced the films Wild Pear Tree by director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Night Life by Damjan Kozola and Sieranevad directed by Christie Puiu. In 2018, the French Ministry of Culture awarded her the Order of the Knight of Arts.
